**REVIVE ** BREATHE EASY ** TRANSFORM ** CANCER CARE

Acute and Chronic Bronchitis

Chronic bronchitis

A type of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) that causes inflammation and narrowing of the bronchial tubes, leading to persistent cough, increased mucus production, and difficulty breathing.

Asthma

Asthma

This is a health problem that affects breathing by making the airways in your lungs narrower and inflamed, which can make it hard to breathe normally. Often associated with cough, wheeze and shortness of breath.

Bronchiectasis

Bronchiectasis

A chronic lung condition in which the bronchial tubes are damaged and widened, making it difficult to clear mucus. Symptoms may include coughing up large amounts of phlegm, wheezing, chest pain, and shortness of breath.

Chest Wall Deformities

Chest wall deformities

Can cause respiratory problems by affecting the shape and movement of the chest, which can make it difficult for the lungs to expand and contract properly. This can lead to shortness of breath, chest pain, and fatigue, especially during physical activity.

COPD

COPD

It is usually caused by long-term exposure to irritants such as cigarette smoke and air pollution. Symptoms may include chronic cough, excessive mucus production, wheezing, and shortness of breath, which can worsen over time and significantly impact quality of life.

Cryptogenic Organizing Pneumonia

Cryptogenic Organizing Pneumonia

A rare lung disease that causes inflammation and scarring in the small airways and air sacs of the lungs, leading to cough, fever, and shortness of breath. The cause of COP is not fully understood, but it is thought to be related to an abnormal immune response to an unknown trigger.

Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis

Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis

A type of lung disease that occurs when the lungs become inflamed due to an allergic reaction to inhaled particles such as dust, mold, or animal droppings. Symptoms may include cough, fever, shortness of breath, and fatigue, which can be mistaken for other respiratory conditions.

Interstitial Lung Disease

ILD

A group of chronic lung disorders that cause inflammation and scarring of the lung tissue between the air sacs, making it difficult for the lungs to function properly. Symptoms may include cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, and fatigue, which can gradually worsen over time.

Lung Cancer

Lung Cancer

A type of cancer that begins in the lungs and can spread to other parts of the body. It is often caused by smoking or exposure to harmful substances such as asbestos, radon, or air pollution. Symptoms may include persistent cough, chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing up blood, and unintended weight loss.

Lung Nodules

Lung Nodule

A lung nodule is a small abnormal growth in the lung that appears as a round or oval-shaped spot on a chest X-ray or CT scan. Most lung nodules are non-cancerous and do not cause symptoms. If a lung nodule is detected, further tests such as a biopsy or imaging studies may be done to determine if it is cancerous or benign.

Mycobacterial Infections

Mycobacterial Disease

Disease caused by Mycobacterium, which can infect various parts of the body including the lungs, skin, and lymph nodes. The most common types of mycobacterial infections that affect the lungs are tuberculosis (TB) and nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) infections. Symptoms may include cough, fever, night sweats, weight loss, and fatigue.

Neuromuscular Affecting Breathing

Neuromuscular Breathing Disorder

Neuromuscular diseases can cause respiratory problems by affecting the muscles and nerves involved in breathing, leading to weak respiratory muscles and reduced lung function. This can result in difficulty breathing, coughing, fatigue, and a decreased ability to perform physical activities.

Obstructive and Central Sleep Apnea

Sleep Apnea

A common sleep disorder in which a person's breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep. This can happen when the muscles at the back of the throat fail to keep the airway open, causing the person to snore loudly and gasp for air. Symptoms may include excessive daytime sleepiness, difficulty concentrating, and headaches upon waking.

Post COVID Lung Disease

Post COVID

Long-term effects of COVID-19 on the lungs are still being studied, but some people may experience ongoing respiratory symptoms even after recovering from the illness. Speak to your doctor if you have any symptoms.

Pleural Effusion

Pleural Effusion

A condition in which excess fluid builds up in the space between the lungs and the chest wall. This can happen due to a variety of reasons, including infections, heart failure, lung diseases, and cancer. Symptoms may include shortness of breath, chest pain, coughing, and fatigue.

Pneumonia

Pneumonia

An infection of the lungs that can be caused by viruses, bacteria, or other pathogens. It can range from mild to severe, and may result in symptoms such as cough, fever, chest pain, difficulty breathing, and fatigue. Pneumonia can be especially dangerous for older adults, young children, and people with weakened immune systems.

Pulmonary Fibrosis

Pulmonary Fibrosis

A lung disease in which the lung tissue becomes damaged and scarred, leading to decreased lung function and difficulty breathing. The cause of the scarring is not always clear, but it can be due to environmental factors such as exposure to certain chemicals or pollutants, autoimmune diseases, or genetic factors. Symptoms may include shortness of breath, dry cough, fatigue, and chest discomfort.

Pulmonary Hypertension

Pulmonary Hypertension

This condition occurs when the arteries in the lungs become narrow or blocked, which makes it harder for blood to flow through them. Symptoms of pulmonary hypertension may include shortness of breath, chest pain, fatigue, dizziness, and fainting.

Pulmonary Embolism

Pulmonary Embolism

A condition where a blood clot blocks blood flow in the lungs, causing shortness of breath, chest pain, and a rapid or irregular heartbeat. It requires immediate medical attention and treatment with blood thinning medications and supportive measures.

Sarcoidosis

Sarcoidosis

A disease that causes inflammation in different parts of the body, most commonly in the lungs and lymph nodes. It can cause a range of symptoms, including coughing, shortness of breath, fatigue, and skin rashes, and may require treatment with medications to manage inflammation and suppress the immune system.
