Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at [email protected] if you cannot find an answer to your question.

WHAT IS DIRECT SPECIALTY CARE?

Direct specialty care is a model where patients pay their doctor directly for their treatment. This allows for a personalized relationship with the doctor and more flexibility in communication. It can provide better treatment without interference from third parties and insurance companies.

WHY SHOULD I COME TO RPC?

RPC is for those who are tired of long wait times or lack access to a pulmonologist in their area. We cater to those seeking second opinions or direct access to personalized lung care. Our longer, detail-oriented visits provide comprehensive assessments, which many patients prefer over short visits. Insurance-based clinics may lead to unexpected out-of-pocket expenses and surprise bills. At RPC, all costs are transparent, so you can make informed decisions regarding your treatment.

WHAT ARE PERKS OF PULMONARY MEMBERSHIP?

In-person and telehealth visits available right away

In-depth unrushed consultations

Simple transparent prices

No insurance runaround

Free Spirometry annually

Discounted labs and tests

Direct access to Dr. Nafsi via text message for urgent needs

HOW CAN I CANCEL MEMBERSHIP?

We have a minimum of two months membership. You can cancel any time after first 60 days. No hard feelings. We can see you as needed on our fee for service schedule, if you so desire in future.

WHAT IF I DO NOT HAVE INSURANCE?

No problem. We welcome you to RPC. You will receive quality healthcare and enjoy 85% discount on all medications and testing required. No referral required.

WHAT IF I HAVE PRIVATE INSURANCE? CAN I GET REIMBURSEMENT?

RPC is a direct care practice that doesn't charge insurance (except Medicare patients). However, if your private insurance covers out-of-network expenses, you may be reimbursed or have some of the costs credited toward your deductible. You can check your insurance documents or contact your insurer for more information. RPC can provide a Superbill/Invoice for consultations and set up a membership structure that can be reimbursed through your insurance.

CAN I GET LABS AND TESTS THROUGH INSURANCE?

Yes, RPC can order lab tests or send prescriptions to pharmacies, which can then be obtained through typical insurance coverage. RPC also has special cash payment pricing through LabCorp, Quest and Forest City Imaging. These prices might be cheaper than your deductible, so do not forget to take advantage and ask our front desk for price list.

WHAT IF I WANT TO CANCEL MY NEW CONSULTATION VISIT?

You can cancel your consultation visit 24 hours before your appointment. At RPC, we understand that life happens; and situations can change. If you reschedule your visit at the last minute, we will accommodate your request without any penalty.

WHAT PRESCRIBED MEDICATIONS DO YOU DISPENSE?

Common prescription medications used for respiratory problems such as steroids, some antibiotics, cough medications and nebulizers will be available for you to take with you at a very cheap price. You do not need to stop at pharmacy. We can assist in requesting inhaler specimens. At RPC, we do not carry any narcotics nor dispense them. Flu & pneumococcal vaccines may be available depending on the demand.

CAN I GET A SLEEP STUDY WITHOUT INSURANCE?

Home Sleep Tests are simple and can be done in the comfort of your home. RPC will arrange a home sleep study for you, if indicated, at a very nominal price with our partner sleep center. The test will cost $145-$175 and will be billed directly by the company. Dr. Nafsi will review your results and advise management plan which may include CPAP machine. RPC also partners with local companies to provide you with CPAP equipment. No referral needed.
